Hi, I'm Sarah. Welcome to my website!
First, a little bit about my professional background.
I graduated with a Master's (MPhil) in Renaissance literature from the University of Cambridge (2013-14), where I completed a dissertation on seventeenth-century devotional reading practices under the supervision of Dr Jason Scott-Warren. From 2011-2013, I worked as a research assistant at the University of Calgary, designing a first-year digital humanities course and an algorithm to detect rhetorical figures in Shakespeare, under the direction of Dr Michael Ullyot.
If you want to see the full extent of my nerdiness, check out my LinkedIn profile.
Right now, I'm the Marketing Administrator for the University of Calgary Press, as well as the Engagement Editor for History To The Public. I also work as a lifeguard and swim instructor for The City of Calgary, which means I get to wear shorts year-round!
But who am I, really? After all, a career is not the summation of a person.
When I'm not working, I spend an inordinate amount of time underwater, dancing, climbing, and worrying. I'm a little neurotic, which means I adore symmetry and have a favourite type of punctuation. I love the smell and texture of old books; jumping into alpine lakes; travelling alone; and scaling medieval rooftops at night. My favourite kind of party is one involving a bottle of merlot, fancy cheese, good company, and glow sticks. I want to live an extraordinary life, challenging myself every step of the way.
Thanks for visiting! Feel free to have a poke around :)
